Well I goofed and put an argon tank on instead of helium as our carrier gas to about 15 gc's. I figured it out after the baseline went sky high. Now that I have the argon tank off, did I do any permanent damage? We have gc/fids, gc/ecds, gc/ms for svoa and voa.
Thanks.

I would be careful to get all of the argon out of mass specs before applying voltage. Even small residues of argon have the posibilty of generating discharges across high voltage components (detectors) - This has been suspected as being the cause of damage to microchannel plate detectors.
