Empower 2 - Help! Timeout during "Waiting for Injection"

HELP!

We are working on a driver to use Empower 2 with a chromatographic system of a GC and a sample preparation instrument.

During runs, there are quite often long gaps of time, after an injection from the sample prep instrument to the GC, where the GC is idle. The GC is READY, and Empower is in the "Waiting for Injection" state - waiting for the next injection from the sample prep instrument.

However, the sample prep instrument can take a long time. After Empower is in "Waiting for Injection" for x minutes, it times out, and sends STOP commands to all instruments in the chromatographic system.

Question - is there any way to change and/or disable that timeout?

Thank you

Hi PerkinElmer,
This sounds like you need some professional help ; ) .

But seriously, this sounds a rather interesting project...

If you can approximate these gaps, you can probably use "Next Inj. Delay" in your sample set methods to stave off timeouts.

if I understand correctly you have 2 systems on the same LACE
and you are inventing drivers for them for empower.
one GC and one HPLC prep?

Most probably my observations will not help you, sorry. I have sometimes observed, that Empower does strange things with instruments via an analog-digital converter. A free Tablespace of < 20 MB is sometimes not enough for Empower.
