I am new to GC-FID(AGILENT 6890/6890N) and I need a little help getting started with my project. I am characterizing and quantifying FAMEs extracted from cereal products.

i have standard (37-component mixture from Supelco #18919). But currently i am facing a problem of preparing the stock standard and the working standard.Could any one please advise me on the preparing those standards?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Supelco #18919 is 37 comp. mix of neat FAMEs (without any solvent). Total weight of FAMEs is 100 mg.

If you dissolve it in 10 mL of solvent you will get conc. 10 mg/mL, and it is the right conc. for FID when split is set at 1:50.

You only have to choose the right solvent.
Use the same solvent as in final samples according to your analitycal method (eg. isooctane).

Could you please tell us what is your analitycal column ?

Thank you for your respond,

As per the question regarding the collum , i will be using the CP-Sil 88 for FAME (by Agilent).

My pleasure.

Hope you resolved all 37 constituents, most of them to the baseline.
