Hi,

I've successfully analyzed water samples for the presence of amines (morpholine and diethylaminoethanol) by direct aqueous injection onto an Rtx-35 amine column in a GC-FID. However I'm stuck on how to use the same column for the detection of these same amines in emulsion samples.

I thought about isolating the amines on a SCX SPE cartridge, then eluting with 2M ammonia in methanol. However I am uncertain how well the chromatography will stand up to an injection of 2M ammonia/MeOH and if I neutralize the samples after SPE i'll be left with the ionic salts of the amines which aren't suitable for GC-FID.

Any suggestions?
