Waters 2690 power supply

Hi all,

We currently have a waters 2690 HPLC that is down due to a blown power supply (we picked up another 2690 very cheap but it also had a bad power supply among other things). To cap it all off the local service guys don't seem to have a scematic for it, so are not sure where to start reparing it. I'd love to buy a new supply but we don't have the cash for it.

Does anyone have (or know where i can get the scematic/). if the answer is no, I'll probably just let an electrician friend of mine have a go at it.

Hi
Never come across a schematic for one of these. Get your electrician friend to have a look and see if there is a part number or OEM name on it. Very often these parts will have been supplied to Waters and not 'custom made'.
There is at least one fuse in there so stick a meter across that...you never know.
Also check your bench power, two blown power supplies is unusual.
Good Luck

More often than not, dead power supplies are down to a shorted capacitor. A good electronics person will be able to diagnose the problem and fix it, probably at a fraction of the price than a service engineer will cost.
