Hi!

I am wondering what is the advantages to use Lichrospher 100 RP18 to Lichroprep RP18 in preparative HPLC more than the optimization of the column system .

If any one has more explanation or good reference?

Thank you in advance

lichroprep is an older packing.
the range of the particle sizes is broad so you do not actually use a narrow distribution.
so from packing to packing you get a lot more deviation and in most cases you will get less separation
lichrosphere is a more narrow distribution chemistry, so the results from batch to batch will be better and separation in most case will improve for you

the lichroprep will cost a lot less

simply look it up in the merck web site. their specs will explain it all

Lichroprep has irregular particles, so all depends on how preparative your preparative work will be. An excellent and robust material. Lichrospher has spherical particles.
Lichroprep is easy for self packers of large scale preparative columns.
