Does anyone have experience with Inficon 3000 micro GC ?

Trying to get one and have some questions.
The application is to analyze syngas with some light hydrocarbons. The model offered has a 4 th channel which is a fixed volume injector an all purpose non polar column.
Is this channel really necessary for our application?

What problems have you encountered with this model ? Are there any frequent or common problems with this type ?

Thanks

OCRC,

The 3000 was Agilent's micro before Agilent bought out Varian. Agilent took Varian's version and spun off their version to Inficon.

What I have seen of Agilents: very quick, very reliable, impossible to work on, expensive to repair but don't need to repair that often. Based on the last two comments, I am trying to convince a customer of mine to look at a full size chassis for RGA analysis but have to demonstrate something close to the same speed of analysis for the full suite of components (~2 minutes.)

The fourth channel is meant for measuring heavier hydrocarbons (C 6+) as a lump at the end of the chromatogram. If you are sure you won't have that, you can probably get away with only the first three channels.

Best regards,
