Hi,
I am working on a custom synthesis molecule.
The method is GC based. Here how can i check whether the method is specific?
I don't have possible impurity list as this is not a drug substance.
Please help/
Regards,
Vishal.

If you have a MS then that answer is obvious.

If you do not have a MS then run the molecule on different phases with different selectivities to see if any peaks separate.

Hopefully you will be informed of the synthesis path so you can see any possible side reaction byproducts.

You may need to use chiral phases if geometrical isomer purity is important.

Also if you can use any other testing method: NMR, HPLC, TLC, boiling point, loss on heating, etc. review the results for behavior consistent of a pure product.

best wishes,

Rod
