What gases can the porapak Q analyze.
Anything that does not react with the plastic, corrosive gases like HF would not be suitable. Remember the beads are carbon based materials with lots of aromatic rings.

I should add there is a limit due to molecular size where the elution time and peak width grow too large to be useful. Increasing the temperature above 200°C decreases the life of the porous polymer beads. The published programmed (not isothermal) temperature limit for Q is 275°C. Generally, C8 hydrocarbons are close to the limit, with corresponding tetra or higher chlorofluorohydrocarbons.
