Gas sampling techniques

How do you adapt a Shimadzu 2014 which has the normal injector valve to take gas samples? do you use a syringe to inject the gas or do you need a specialized gas sampling valve port (how then do you get the gas into this valve? do you use a vacuum pump?)

If you add a gas sampling valve, then you can just use the sample pressure to fill the sample loop on the valve. This is assuming that the sample is in a pressured cylinder. If the sample is at low pressure, you could try to pull a vacuum on the sample loop to help fill it with sample. You've got to be very cautious as you really need to loop to be injected at atmospheric pressure in order to do quantitation.
The other option with low pressure samples is to catch them in a bag, then use a syringe, three way valve, and tubing to force the sample through the sampling loop.
YOu could just use a syringe to inject the gas into the inlet. Not as repeatable as a sample valve, but it can be done.
