Column Selectivity Comparison: USP vs. PQRI databases

Hi All,

I'm interested to hear which version people prefer when trying to find similar or disimilar (re: maximum selectivity space for method development) columns for their work.

Both databases are listed here: http://www.usp.org/USPNF/columnsDB.html

I must admit I have a preference for using the PQRI database, if only that it is much more comprehensive (525 phases vs. 112 for the USP database).

Has anyone compared the two approaches directly in the literature for either 1) selecting equivalent columns or 2) selecting the biggest selectivity space?

The topic and methods of the PQRI database has been covered extensively in the literature since around 2003. Search for Hydrophobic-subtraction model; most of the articles I know of are located in the Journal of Chromatography A.
