Help!
I'm using a GC-FPD for organotin analysis and am getting a large square solvent peak at the outset, which can be very large and produce ugly chromatograms (although it doesn't interfere with my analysis as such). My solvent is iso-octane... Any suggestions?

Unless the solvent peak is causing quantitation problems, or extinguishing the flame, I would not be concerned - it is common that the solvent overloads the column and detector, which causes a flat-topped peak.

If it is significantly larger than what you're used to getting - check for leaks or misprogramming of the injector.

I have the same thing when i analyse CS2 in isooctan,the solvent peak at the end of the chromatogramm is very large...but don't interfere...
