Hi,
Do any of you guys know where I can find the oven temperature program (method) that was used to develop FFNSC 2.0 or 1.3 the Mass Spectra of Flavors and Fragrances of Natural and Synthetic Compounds, 1st or 2nd Edition library, ISBN: 978-1-1181-4583-8 2nd edition or ISBN: 978-0-470-42521-3 (1st edition)? It was developed by Luigi Mondello. I am using a hp 5ms: 30m x 0.25mm x 0.25um column. GC 7890A with a 5975C MSD.
Thank you,
D

Hi catnip,
Are you asking for a single method that will allow you to separate and identify all of the flavour compounds in Mondello's library? I doubt that there is one single method that Mondello used, there is a lot of compounds in a library, several methods were probably used to produce spectra of all of the compounds.
Are you trying to analyse for a particular compound(s)?

You do know that the oven temprature programme cannot make any difference to a compound's mass spectrum ?

Hi,
I am trying to get a method to start with. I am new to this equipment so I just need some help getting started with some basic oven programs for fragrances. If you know of any of the methods used that would be great.
Thank you,
catnip

Try looking up some of the compounds you are interested in the Name, Formula, or CASrn search of the NIST05, NIST08 or NIST 11 Database using the NIST MS Search Program. In the Text Information window for the Hits you will see a section labeled Retention Index for many of these compounds. Theses contain complete GC methods along with literature citations. The first two methods are displayed. You can display more by going to this window’s Properties dialog box and changing the Display first 2 to Display all.

Hi,
Column manufacturers publish chromatograms and conditions for essential oils / fragrances
- often supplied by prominent workers in the field.

Thank you. Any idea where I can find MS search software? I found one for chemstation format and ran into an error when I tried to install.
