how to maximize my GC-MS sensitivity?

Discussions about GC-MS, LC-MS, LC-FTIR, and other "coupled" analytical techniques.

Hi,

I am a new bee with GC-MS. I am trying to detect 11DCE, 111TCA, TCE and PCE using GC-MS. It is a 5972 MS.

Right now, I am trying to use max sensitivity tune when tuning the MS, but it seems that the iso ratio 1:4:9 does not work anymore. Is it right? Is there any documents I can read about this?

Also, is there any documents talking about manual tune? I am thinking about cranking up the EMV to increase the sensitivity.
right now, the EMV is about 1500.

Also, I did a standard autotune and it seems that the 502 peak is wide and not very good looking...It has splits on its isotope peaks. Does anyone know why and how to improve this?

The MS 5972 parameters are different from 5971. Is there any document I can read to find out the 5972 parameters?

Thank you!

Emma
