Parallel analyses

I apologize if this is a dumb question but can a GC with multiple inlets and detectors typically analyze multiple samples in parallel, assuming of course a common oven profile and parallel inlets/columns/detectors etc?

It depends upon the software and the computer collecting the signals.
It should be clear in the manuals of the GC if it is capable to do this.
You should contact your GC manufacturer for a definite answer to your question.

It's fairly routine in high throughput environmental labs using Agilent systems, 1 autosampler tray, 2 injection towers, 2 inlets, 2 columns, 2 FIDs giving 2 samples analysed for each oven cycle. As far as I know only Agilent offers true dual channel injections (two towers injecting into two inlets at exactly the same time). The other vendors offer offset injections where a single injector will inject in inlet 1 then will inject into inlet 2.
These days with the number of fast GC techniques on the market e.g. Flash, Mach, racer, etc that is probably a better way to go in my opinion.
