I am trying to interpretate a chromatogram from oil, and I've got different aromatic hydrocarbon compounds. I've identified most of them however I would like to use the correlation proposed by Rostad and Pereira (1986), to confirm the identified compounds.
Ix=100[(Tn-1-Tx)/(Tn+1-Tn)]+100n
when I am using the values of the previous and the following identified compound (n and n+1), I obtained a value for the Ix of biphenyl (x, in this case), but I am not sure how to verify if it is biphenyl or not: how can I compare this value or where (e.g. a standard chromatogram, etc.).
I hope somebody can help me.
Thanks!
