Dear all,
I am trying to create a valves sequence at 6890 GC and I get this message:
ERROR:Automation HW not present - cannot add new subsequence
Does anyone know how I should proceed to fix this? I was not able to find explanations about this error in the User Manual.
Thanks a lot.

To enable the ChemStation to run any sequence, it assumes that you have some form of automated way to inject a sample. This can be an autosampler or a gas sampling valve. To run with valves, you MUST have one valve configured as a gas sampling valve. This does not have to be one of the valves that you already have configured. Let us assume that you have three valves on your 6890 and you have configured these a switching valves. You can configure any of the valves 4 through 8 as a gas sampling valve EVEN THOUGH YOU DO NOT PHYSICALLY HAVE THAT VALVE INSTALLED. Once you have a valve configured as a gas sampling valve, you must select this as the injection source, and then you can run a sequence from the ChemStation. You set the injection source from the 'Method and Run Control' screen, click on 'Instrument' and then 'Select Injection source'. You should now be able to set up a sequence.
I would guess that you do not have an autosampler on your 6890 and you have not configured a valve as a gas sampling valve, hence the message about no hardware for autoinjection.
