I am looking for a place to purchase Porasil C 80/100 mesh column packing material(not packed columns). Preferably OPN on Porasil C 80/100 mesh. I know this material was discontinued in the 1980's and supplies have "since been depleted", according to restek. Does anyone know of anyone who is still selling Porasil C?

There are no vendors who do sell an exact replacement.

Restek sells a similar but DIFFERENT product from the historical Porasil C. Of course they and other have tried to make an exact replacement but it is not easy to do.

But that begs the question: Did Waters ever sell a consistent product that did not differ from batch to batch in performance? Perhaps in the first years it got the product from France. But the French inventor and supplier of the material had a difficult time in making it reproducibly.

What is your application?

The only application I know where a different packing has not replaced Porasil C OPN is in the BTU analysis of natural gas. Even then there is another packing, specially prepared to meet a precise specification, which can be used to substitute for Porasil C OPN in its BTU application.

Good luck,

Rod

You are welcome.

If you would not mind, send me a note privately and let me know a little about you and your company.

If I come across any material in my contacts who can help you I would be glad to contact you.

best wishes,

Rod

I have recently had the same problem and found that Ohio Valey Specialty http://www.ovsc.com/
Can supply this. There is some variation lot to lot but this is the original formulation of the product.
