using carbondioxide as the neb gas in ESI

A friend of my wrote a trip report of PittCon 2004 and said someone has used CO2 as a Neb gas in ESI and get 6 times better sensitivty. No details in his report. Does anyone has experience in this application. I am ordering a high purity CO2 (99.998%) and will try it myself. Any practical reason not to use CO2 i.e. too expensive comparing with 0 grade air.
