Hi,

I am new for usage of GCMS. Usually we are using dichloromethane (DCM) for extration of PAHs.

Now I have a sample with PAHs but has ocatne as solvent. So can I inject octane directly?? Should I take any precautions?

Thanks In advance,
Jason
It should not be a problem injecting octane. Very inert solvent compared to DCM. Your MS may stay clean longer with octane.

best wishes,

Rod
The octane will probably elute later than dichloromethane, so you might need to increase the time for which the fialment is switched off.

Good point Peter, but doing PAHs I am sure itsbourne has quite a delay already. But a reminder never hurts.

Rod
itsbourne,

With or without naphthalene? That will be the challenging one with iso-octane.

Best regards,

AICMM
