an aqueous sample diluted 1:5 with acetonitrile was mistakenly injected onto a kc811 column running 0.1% h3po4 at 70 centigrades. 10 uL was shot and there was a guard column on it .

What damage might have incurred?

From a quick look at the Shodex site, it looks like that column is a sulfonated polystyrene-divinylbenzene in the hydrogen form (similar to the BioRad HPX87H). Those are very robust columns. You can inject 10 microliters of just about *anything*, and the worst-case scenario is that you would have to change the guard cartridge.

I agree. The guard column probable earned its keep, but the darned thing costs almost 500 and must be packed.

the column calls for a 0 to 20% ethanol addition with column kept below about 720 psi.
no informatin on pressure constraints for 0.1% phosphoric mobile phase.
