Do you think can I measure Carbon Monoxide in Shimadzu 2014? FID detector and column is DB-624 (Agilent)
Classic column of GC.
Where can I find information about the method?

Thanks a lot.

You do not have the correct detector or column.

Usually an FID is not sensitive to CO. Using a DB-624 means that CO is not separated from many gases which could interfere.

You should be using a mole sieve column and either a TCD, or a Helium ionization detector, or a FID with hydrogen carrier and a methanizer column before the detector.

The application will depend upon the matrix you are injecting.

Do a little research from process control analyzer companies or hire a professional to help you.

Good luck,

Rod

As Chromatographer 1 says, matrix dependant.

However we are doing ppm level CO in H2 using ppq pack column then onto a methaniser before FID detection.

What is the CO in?

You can use FID with methanizer or TCD detector. I think you can use a Porapak Q Plot column for CO analysis.
