Tailing factor and chemstation

Hi everyone!
This is my first post and I hope for your answers. You are my last hope...
I was looking for old posts and I couldn't find the solution. How can I put one tailing factor inside my report? Now I'm working under EP and I know that USP and EP have different symmetry/tailing factor values, but I need an idea of which symmetry I have.
I have Chemstation B.04.01, I have a tick at the "extended statistic parameters" and also at "sequence summary parameters (analysis reports, statistics calib.runs and statistics sample runs)". When I run the sequences and I integrate my results, I look in the "extended performance and "full" reports and I can't find it..... I'm a little desperated.... How can I do this???

Hi,

The EP and USP formulas for tailing are identical. (I.e. that is probably why you cannot choose EP or USP for tailing).

EP and USP formulas are not identical for plate count and resolution, though.
I can't find the tailing factor value. where is it? In which report style? Which parameters should I mark?
Have no clue - I have not used Chemstation for 15 years, I am afraid....
I look in the "extended performance and "full" reports and I can't find it.....
Choose extended performamce report. Name the peaks in the chromatogram (e.g. create a calibration table with names and retention times for the peak(s) of interest - can be a dummy calibration just use a non-zero value for the concentration). Under report output options check the box to create an Excel file (.xls). Go to the file menu and select print. The Excel file report will be created in the data file directory when you "print" the report. If you dont need the paper copy deselect printer, save a tree ;). The tailing factor along with many other peak performance parameters are in the "peaks" tab of the spreadsheet.

Glad to help. I know how frustrating it can be when something is supposed to work but apparently does not. I have found the entire content of this report to be very useful and use it routinely in my work.

Just one word of warning, check on the little diagram on the extended performance report that the software has drawn the tangents in correctly (obvious I know but I have seen this missed) for the peak of inetrest. Chemstation does have its limits on what peak shapes it can cope with.
