I am trying to test concentration of nitrate and nitrite by HPLC Agilent 1200. I am using column ODS Hypersil column. I had tried 70% methanol and 30% water as my mobile phase, but the retention time is different for various concentration standard solution. Does this means that I used wrong mobile phase?

Can anybody suggest me what the mobile phase that I should used?

What a "nitrates and nitrites" - organic (class- alifatic, aromatic , geterocicles, others, any functional grops - amines, acids, phenols, amides , other) or inorganic?
If inorganic -"shotguns do not clean brick (с)" . Need use anionic sorbent.

Your best option would be an anion exchange column. Look at the sites of Dionex and Metrohm for these.
