New SPME fibres

Hey everyone,

I have just got some new SPME fibres and I need some help on how to treat them before starting analysis. I understand you need to bake the fibers, but I am not sure if there's any pre-conditioning that is necessary for NEW fibres?

Thanks,
Jade :)

Expect that fibers have picked stuff up by just sitting around in the box. For manual use of fibers, I have exposed the fiber for a while in a hot inlet (with carrier flow) and then used it. (Bake off the column before trying to run a sample on it - or you may see stuff from the fiber.)

Just as continuation of the Don's comment, consult the manufacturer flip of paper in the SPME fibre box to select the most appropriate inlet temperature and baking time for your specific SPME fibre coating.
