tertiary and quatenary amines

I am looking for a method for separation of tertiary and quatenary amines, for example, pyridine and methylpyridinium or morpholine and methylmorpholinium. What column you recommend to start from? HILIC, Ion exchanger, C18 in Ion Pairing Mode?

Hi
Any metods. This is trivial test. C18 is simpler and used more often
But morfolin don't have chromofors in molecola ( C=C , Ar, C=O )! UV detectos don't sees, if optical dencity =0
May be use GC chromatography?

The best way to analyze the compounds in your list is ion chromatography using a cation-exchange IC column. Here is a reference: http://www.dionex.com/en-us/webdocs/879 ... PN2506.pdf

Your local Dionex sales person should be able to provide you with more informattion.

Thank you Liu,
Are you sure morpholinium or pyridium will elute from the Dionex column?

My feeling is that morpholinium and pyridium should elute on one of Dionex cation columns. But I am not 100% sure as my expertise is mainly in LC. What I will do is to consult with one of our IC experts and get back to you on this forum.

Hello,
I consulted one of my co-workers who is the expert in cation analysis. She didn't test these two componds before, but expected the IC method should work for this application. The recommended column is IonPac CS17 (http://www.dionex.com/en-us/products/co ... 73229.html).
Good luck.
