I am trying to extract volatile sesquiterpene from yeast extract using dodecane. Dodecane has boiling point of 226C and my compound BP is 280C. Does any one has idea how to remove dodecane without loosing my compound. If i try to evoporate under vaccum I will loose my compound too.
Thanks for all your help

Hi.
Use Pentane , n- Hexane , toluene, iso-Propanole , Ethylacetate or absolut Ethanole
"vera ne pozvoljaet" [prevents the use of faith]" (Russian proverb )
Or , a technology such washed yeast with gasoline ?

and you can not change anything?

May be used TLC on silicagel for concentration.
Alternative- may be use GC?

I can not use other low bp solvent i need to trap my volatile terpene with high bp solvent. I tried heptane and octane they are toxic to yeast. anything less than 120c is not good for me cause it will evoprate it self in incubation period. Dodecane is know to use for yeast extraction but they us GCMS where they directly inject it and i dont have GCMS

Can you use some thign like an SPME fiber or one of Gertel's twister bars. These can absorb compunds like sesquiterpenes and then release them either on heating (in a GC inlet) or with extraction with a low boiling solvent.

Hellow
Yes, problem is clear . You extract live cell culture.
1) How many terpenes in air over cultural mix ? Or in the air no interesting substances
2) Can be used for solid phase extraction sorbent
(Polystyrene, C18, coal)
After this you can extract a substance by flash-chromatography or boilig solvent extraction in a Soxhlet

Is the analyte level so low that you MUST remove solvent and/or concentrate?
