Mass Lynx - System Fluidics Organizer

We have a Waters LCMS system. I am trying to understand the System Fluidics Organizer and setting of Events, so that I can divert the flow either to the MS or waste.

There are various selections such as Switch 1, Switch 2....till Switch 6 and finally a Set Prep Column option.

Does anyone who used Mass Lynx knows what those Switch 1, 2...and so on refer to?

I tried to read the operating guides and manual, but this was not explained within them.

I have never seen these switch 1,2...6. But here is how you can divert the flow provided you have a six/four-port valve on your MS: in your MS method, click on the tab "options", then "method events". You should be able to select "solvent delay". Just set a "begin" and "end" time and the MS will divert the flow to waste during the span time you have set.

Tell us if it works.

Cheers

Hi Gaetan Glauser,

I checked and see what you are referring to.

So if I have e.g. a 12 min run and wish to divert the flow to waste, then to MS, then to waste again, can I set the following?

0.0 Solvent Delay On
2.0 Solvent Delay Off
4.0 Solvent Delay On
12.0 Solvent Delay Off

Is that correct? Or must I select other options e.g. LC flow?

Thank you.

Yes, should work like this. Just have a try and check if it works.

Thank you so much! I can't try currently as my colleague is running a long sequence. I will do so, when she is done. :) Thanks again!
