I have some general question about cleaning a ms ion source. Is it 100%b necessary to clean the ion source using a sonicator or is there another way to get around it?
you could probably get away with swirling it in several washes of water, acetone, and MeOH. I would really say it depends on what type of materials you are analyzing.

No, but maybe you will tell us something about your instrument and your analyts?
