Converting .ms file to .jpg

Hi all,

I am looking for a way to convert .ms file generated by VOA GC/MS instrument to .jpg image programatically in some way, may be by using a window application, or using macros in chemstation software. The aim is to pick up the .ms files from pre-configured locations and convert it to images so that the chemist does not have to convert the spectra files to .jpg or print it to PDF. Please let me know any thoughts for this automation.

Regards,
Payal

There are ways to convert the current chromatogram view or spectral view to an enhanced metafile. The Chemstation command is "CLIP 2" where the number 2 designates which window to write to a metafile. The .emf file is saved in the sample's data folder (.D extention). Not sure if this helps. I know in some versions there is a way to do this and attach the Chromatogram to a report automatically but I have never really used it. Your best option is to call Agilent technical support and navigate on the phone to the Instrument support (or something like that). When they ask you for the 4 digit product code type in 1701 for Chemstation support. These people are usually pretty knowlegeable. I'm not sure how their phone support works in countries outside the U.S.A. as I am assuming by the post time here that you are not in the US.

Hi PayalVyas,

maybe, OpenChrom could be a solution for you:

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... chrom&aq=f

OpenChrom is able to save chromatograms in different formats, using plug-ins. It should be also possible to program a plug-in, that saves your chromatogram in the JPG or PDF format.

Contact me if you like:
