Hi there

Does anyone know of a method that can be used to separate natural organic matter, specifically dissolved organic carbon, using LC/MS?

Thank you!

Tim Jones

If you are refering to humic and fulvic acids, then perhaps this article will help:

Anal. Chem., 75 (22), 6275 -6281 (2003)

(coupling SEC to MS for fulvic acid analysis)

It is also possible that you want to REMOVE things like humic acid BEFORE analysis. This can be done too, but we need to understand what you want to accomplish.
