Hello

We are ready to buy an Agilent 7820 GC-FID with autosampler, but we don't know which software to choose between EZChrom and Chemstation. We also have the intension to buy a Agilent 1260 HPLC soon. (HPLC and GPC-SEC application.)

What are the advantages / disadvantages of both software

Any advice are welcome

We currently use Excalibur with our Thermo DSQII and Turbochrom with a PerkinElmer HPLC.

Thanks

Hi, both control the GC with the same driver, so from that point of view there is no difference. EZChrom Workstation (not EZChrom Compact) however has built-in compliance and better reporting. So it is just what you need. Feel free to send your requirements :).

Hi varossf

I have to choose between EZChrom compact and ChemStation

EZChrom compact is half the price of ChemStation

What is the difference between Ezchrom compact and Ezchrom workstation.

Is that the only difference is that I can control more chromatographic components with EZChrom worktation

thanks

Hello,

EZChrom Elite Compact is a part of a package including the GC. Elite Compact has the functionnality of EZChrom Elite Single Instrument. But you can also control 2 instruments with it.

EZChrom compact does not support SEC/ GPC Analysis, or DAD Acquisition and analysis.

I know, but if I buy the HPLC I can upgrade for Ezchrom elite and add GPC module.

Aha, the compact is a special low cost version made for the low cost GC's and LC's. It does only control the Agilent components and has some restrictions in compliance and additional modules. You can however upgrade to Workstation when required, e.g. when buying a second instrument.
I thought Chemstation doesn't support 7820.
My advice..buy neither and go for something like Chromeleon. The multitude of drivers available will future proof your lab for any other systems that you may purchase.
I thought Chemstation doesn't support 7820.
It does.
