I am looking to buy a headspace sampler. Presently I am using the G1888 70 vial instrument from agilent and it works well for me. It is basically the same as it's predecessor which I had used for a decade.
The new one that came out recently (holds 111 vials) seems to have a significantly different design but costs about the same as the G1888 I've been told., Does anybody have any experience with it or knowledge/opinions about it?

I heard the first ones have already been shipping out, haven't seen one myself. From what I've heard it uses the same gripper technology as the new GC ALS tray and the LC ALS gripper, which could be a benefit. Apart form that I doubt much has changed with regard to the sample path and valves. I know they have recently made some improvements to the firmware and software integration of the 1888, whether those benefits are also in the new headspace I don't know.

As aldehyde I have just heard about it, and we are not planning to upgrade currently.
The increased sample load capability is basiclly of no intrest for us currently due to due to "demand driven supply, lean, six sigma etc..." meaning we have usually have few samples running daily per instrument.
