I have a couple of old 5890 Series II GCs connected to 3396 integrators. I would like to switch over to using a PC based integration using Openchrom software which seems to be a great system. The GCs are equipped with 19257-80040 cards for Serial output which I can connect to my PC with a DB25 - USB cable. I also have an HP 35900 Interface connected with an HP-IB cable.

What I am missing is data acquisition software which Openchrom does not seem to offer. I do not need to control the GCs as I only do very simple and routine analysis.

Can anyone recommend an open source (or inexpensive) software solution?

Thanks,

Gary

In case your 5890 are equipped with HP-IB/RS232 boards (19257-80040 is part number of the ROM, the board itself should be 19257-60015), you could consider our Clarity software

It is not free (we make our living on it), but you will get instrument control, data acquisition and processing in a single package.
