Hello,
Does anyone know good tools to maintain column history log ?
I heard Waters UPLC(?) has that kind of tag system but we can't afford to change all our HPLCs to this at the same time

.
Thanks

There is a computer program called "HPLC Column Manager". Manufacturer is Limathon (
http://www.limathon.com). I haven't actually used it, but it looks like it might be just what you're looking for.

If you have Agilent ChemStation Plus (the version with the database) or Agilent Cerity, both can be setup with column details manually or using a column tag which can be programmed with the column details and reused when the column finally gives up.
Because the database records details about the column for each injection, you can create custom reports, with statistics if needed, about evey injection performed on the column. These can include plots of data, for example Efficiency (N) against time. Also, the advantage over a separate system is that you don't have to collect/enter data - it's all done for you automatically.
