Connecting old autosampler to new HPLC system (Shimadzu)

Hi, I am wondering if it is possible to connect older version of autosampler (SIH-10A, for example) to a newer HPLC controller (Shimadzu Prominence is what I have). The software needs to recognize an autosampler, but is that the only requirement? If you look up the system configuration, there are older model listed up in drop down menu for autosampler. But that does not mean that it can be used with newer system, I guess?
Has anyone ever done such things?
Thanks!
Since the old and new are both from the same vendor, I would contact their tech support.

As a general statement, yes, the SIL-10A autosampler can be connected to and operated from the Prominence CBM-20A controller. The fiber optic cable from the autosampler must plug into port #1 onthe CBM. This will allow the CBM t recognize that the autosampler is present. If you are using software to control the system, the software configuration for the instrument will require a little bit of an update to include the autosampler.
