What kind of glass vial or insert can be used for GC and HPLC analysis. Is it necessary to use Silanized glass vial or insert?

The vials and inserts available to you are largely dependent on the HPLC and GC autosamplers you are using.

For vials , you can select from:

Clear borosilicate glass type 33 or 51 (less reactive)
Amber glass
Polpropylene (PP)
polyethylene (PE)

Inserts can be PP, PE or glass (the size available depends on the HPLC and GC vials available for your autosamplers)

Vials/inserts may be silanized. However, silanized equipment is usually only used if the method will not work without it (this is determined during the validation procedure).
