Hi

I am interested to know if there is a GC method to detect 4-Tert-Butlycatchol (TBC) in Butadiene (BD). Right now we analyze it using a spectrophotometric method.

Thanks in advance.

A GC method using a silylating reagent (several to pick from) and a methyl silicone phase should work fine.

Mix 0.1mL of reagent to 1mL of sample. I assume you are doing ppm analysis and your sample is in a liquid state. Handling must be done with skill as I am sure you are aware that C4s require a lot of pressure to refrain from a phase change.

Otherwise, extraction in a solvent would be a good idea for trace analysis.

HPLC would also work easily. Lots of methods are public. I would prefer it, myself.

Nothing of rocket science here.
