Discussions about HPLC, CE, TLC, SFC, and other "liquid phase" separation techniques.

I just received this e-mail.

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that our friend and colleague, Uwe Neue passed away about an hour ago.

Uwe was such a technical powerhouse for >33 years with publications, books, contributions to just about every chemistry invention and a professor to us all. He will be terribly missed.

Uwe leaves his wife and two adult sons, Alexander and Martin.

I'm sending this email to a token few and ask that you kindly pass the message along to those in your departments/organizations and around the world.

The funeral services are still being arranged and I will issue another email to let everyone know. Uwe asked that donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of any other expressions of sympathy.

Uwe was a frequent contributor and in many ways the "heart and soul" of the Forum. He will, indeed, be missed!

Although I did not know him personally, I can say I learned a great deal from his insightful and informative posts on this Forum, and from his book. The chromatography world has lost a great pillar of its community.
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
I am shocked, speechless.
We all lost a mentor.
My condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. His passing is a huge loss to chromatographers, but also his sense of humour ( eg sorting pigs ) and knowledge of history, theory, equipment, and applications will be sorely missed here.

Rest in peace Uwe.

RIP ! We will all miss YOU.
I learned a lot from Uwe, as well as many others.

We will miss you! :(
It was a great honore to work with Uwe. I'm really shocked and I will miss him. He was a very nice man with a great sence of humour, reliable, fair and honest to everybody.
Rest in peace Uwe.

Even those of us who only knew him through his writings, and his insightful, accurate and well-thought-out replies here, we will miss him hugely. Not only superbly knowledgeable in what seemed like a limitless range of analytical work, but a kind professional with a wonderful sense of humour, and someone who was always generous in helping others. His passing is a huge loss, but his character and works will go on illuminating us for a very long time yet…
My heartfelt condolence to his family; many times I felt proud just because Uwe Neue replayed my post; He helped a lot in this forum.
I only knew the man through his posts on this forum, but his depth of knowledge and his willingness to share it came through in everything he wrote. We should all be inspired by such an example. My condolences to any of you who knew him personally.
I am shocked and saddened by this news. I was just about to post something to this board, hoping to catch his attention when I saw this news. I have had a fair bit of correspondence with Mr Neue and I was growing fond of him and feeling increasingly fortunate to have a person like him weigh in on my chromatographic work. It was a dream of mine to eventually meet him in person. My condolences to his family and all of his friends and colleagues. This is a truly sad time for chromatography.
