"FID flame out" This is displayed on GC and automation stops.
Flame remains lighted. The signal drops to -0.3 V.
Turning the Electronics ON/OFF or reignition clears the Error message temporarily.
Flows are OK H2/Air 40/400. All the columns in line with FID conditioned overnight.

Anyone....Plz suggest

You probably need to re-set the flame out threshold, check the user manual.

Thanks peter

I could'nt find flame out threshold setting in GC control menues, not even in manual.
However I disabled "check for FID flameout". Now the error is gone...and automation is not stopped. But I have to ignite the flame manually each time the GC is switched ON.

I monitored the baseline noise for 30 min. it is between 20 uV to 50 uV.
FID seems ok to me as for as cleaning and noise is concerned, now what will you suggest for the permanent fixing of problem.

I am not familiar with the GC that you have. On the Varian 3800 and 450 the flame out setting is changed from the front panel. Probably you should contact Bruker.

Dear Peter

I tried FID cleaning, and I found FID ignitor coil slighly touching the Flame tip assembly and FID assembly was not secrewed tightly (GC was serviced by vendor few weeks earlier).

No depositions, soot or blockage observed while cleaning.

Now the problem is gone and flame ignition is automatic as normal.

Thanks and regards

Hi Wajid

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you fixed it. In your place I would be having harsh words with the service engineer :x
