Can any one suggest MOA for Acetic acid and formic acid. I am already using a method using derivatization usinf p-toluene sulphonlic acid using DB-624.
Since because of regulatory issues i wanted to use with derivatization i tried injecting acetic acid and formic acid directly in DB-624 but poor peaks were observed and for formic acid response is too less in my FID.

Kindly suggest any method for acetic acid and formic acid using FID.

You could use HPLC for the analysis.

You could use GC-TCD or helium ionization detector using a direct injection onto a FFAP/SP-1000 capillary. Note: acetic elutes before formic.

You could try esterification with isopropanol and sulfuric acid and use a porous polymer column to separate IPA from the esters of formic and acetic acids.

Without my books that is the best I can offer at this time.

Hai this is Kalidass find the below which we are analyzing formic acid and formaldehyde by derivation method, you can try for acetic Acid also
Simultaneous determination of formic acid and formaldehyde in pharmaceutical excipients using headspace GC/MS

OK, figured out that MOA meant "method of analysis", never heard that term in 35 years in the industry. Hate those %#$^&&##%^%@#&* TLAs.
