Hi this is my first post there and I don't know is this is the rigth place / site to ask but I'll give it a try anyway

I have been studying some of the designs of an oximeter. This device typically sends in two ligth beams of around 660 nm and 940 nm in wavelength and comares the differance to fin the oxygen saturation in the body.
But is it possible to also monitor the bicarbonate level in the same manner? Anyone then know the wavelenth that can be used here if it is eaven possible?

Bicarbonate tests are today done with blood drawn from a vein.
Normal consentration is about 20-29 mEq/L (milliequivalent per liter).
