Effects of moisture on a GC-FID

Hello! This is my first post on the Chromatography Forum!

I have been running a 1 in 40 Propylene Glycol deicer to Acetone on our GC-FID and getting a strange flat topped plateau. It was recently discovered that the PG is 8% water. I was wondering if our inability to resolve the peak was due to the moisture? We are running a 30m Rtx-1 fused silica column with an id of 0.32 mm.

Thank you.
Please supply which GC you are using and the conditions, especially for the FID and it's electronics.

RedMello06,

Neat or split? Analog out or digital out?

Best regards,

Do you get this same flat topped peak when you inject acetone with no propylene glycol in it? (rinse the syringe carefully to avoid carryover.) If so you are looking at an overloaded solvent peak. And please post pictures of the GC traces.
