Would someone explain the "Coil" monitor display for Chemstation on the Agilent 5973 MSD?
What exactly is the "Coil" and what does the display number tell me?
Thank you.

According to a colleague who works for Agilent, the “Coil” is the coil dip setting and is probably in mV. Agilent the RF coils by “dipping” (adjusting) the ferrites in the coils and this is the indication that they are optimized to deliver power to the quads.

The Help file has the following: “Coil displays the quad frequency for selected mass.” This makes no sense because the quad is operated at a fixed frequency with the RF amplitude changing as a function of m/z values (mass).

After getting this answer, I am not sure I understand anything more than I did before. I hope this helps you. I don’t think this value is helpful to the operation of the instrument but may be useful to a service engineer troubleshooting a problem.
