dear all,
my boss plans buy prep HPLC parts(accessories), including the pumps(binary), mixer, injector, UV detector with prep cell, data process software, etc. to assemble a HPLC prep system by ourselves.
what should we take care of? any suggestions? especially how to do the optimization on the performance of the system
many thanks,
kiknos

What scale are you doing prep at? mg, grams, kg? and...what types of samples are you separating?
You can assemble your own, but there are systems on the market that would probably do a better job of meeting your needs, unless you are under some budget constraint.
If you are building a "mixmaster" system you can forget the control software other than something to control your pump gradient. You would also probably want a fraction collector.

many thanks for your kind reply, Supercritical!
i am planning to buy binary pumps with flow range of 0-100mL/min for single pump for semi- to prep separations(mg-g). samples should include both small molecule compounds and peptides.
i know there won't software which can control the system, but rather, can only collect and process the data.
i can get all the components from one distributor, then i get the service from the responding manufacturers via the distributor if there is any mistake in any part. the whole price is impressively low compared all the other prices i quote from those HPLC system manufacturers.
