Agilent/Varian Ion Trap

Discussions about GC-MS, LC-MS, LC-FTIR, and other "coupled" analytical techniques.

I am interested in upgrading my current Varian Saturn 2000 ion trap MS to current version but hesitate to do so w/ merger in flux. Varian Service Engineer believes Agilent will adopt Varian's Ion Traps while Agilent provides Quads. All will work off of Aglient GC front end and ChemStation based software.
At this point, I figure it better to wait until this all pans out before making major capital purchase. Any thoughts?
I would wait - or ask other manufacturers. The situation is truly bad at the moment - and we have both Varian and Agilent/HP.

I don't understan your comments.....the Agilent Sales reps in my area were very specific....for Agilent Micros go to Inficon, for Varian GC/QQQ, GC's or ICP/MS go to Bruker....you want to update the Saturn ...call Bruker...

Sorry Varian ion Traps will be retained by Agilent...call your local Agilent/Varian Sales rep.

Please let me know when you plan to sell your Saturn 2000. Thx.
Hi,

Mabye a bit late, but for your Ion-Trap you've to contact Bruker Chemical Analysis.

Cheers
I think you are mistaken. Agilent has kept the Varian GC/Ion Trap and Bruker has the single and tandem transmission quadrupole instruments.

Just to clarify further, Varian's ion trap product offering has remained with Agilent but their latest GC product offerings, namely the 400 series gas chromatographs, were divested to Bruker along with Varian's triple/single quadrupole mass spectrometers. Several other product offerings also went to Bruker, including Varian's ICP-MS.
Please let me know when you plan to sell your Saturn 2000.
Thanks,,,
