Sad news about Uwe Neue

I just received this e-mail.

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that our friend and colleague, Uwe Neue passed away about an hour ago.

Uwe was such a technical powerhouse for >33 years with publications, books, contributions to just about every chemistry invention and a professor to us all. He will be terribly missed.

Uwe leaves his wife and two adult sons, Alexander and Martin.

I'm sending this email to a token few and ask that you kindly pass the message along to those in your departments/organizations and around the world.

The funeral services are still being arranged and I will issue another email to let everyone know. Uwe asked that donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of any other expressions of sympathy.

Uwe was a frequent contributor and in many ways the "heart and soul" of the Forum. He will, indeed, be missed!

I'm speechless and in shock; those are terribly sad news.

I talked with him not that far ago and he looked just fine...

How unfortunate! :( The forum will never be the same without his knowledgeable contributions...

Hi
I did not know Uwe personally but his advice and comments will live long in my memory. He was a person that you could “bounce things off” and I have learned a lot from him. .....we will miss you…

Very bad news
I knew him personally and he was very nice, friendly and open person. And very great scientist.
This is a very huge loss for the separation science.
From his advices we learnt a lot. I really gonna miss this great man here on the forum!

Rest in peace Uwe

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that. I have never met him, but he provided me very helpful advice on my thesis project on this very forum.

After having interacted with him regularly on the forums for quite a while, I had the pleasure of meeting him in Milford several years ago. I found him to be just as nice, knowledgeable and approachable in person as he was online.

My condolences to his family as well as to the chromatography community, who have all suffered a terrible loss.

He gave a presentation at my work some years ago. Truly a great analytical chemist. He will be sorely missed.

Goodness no!

I never met him, but interacted with him here and swapped occasional emails with him on several occasions. He truly was an outstanding scientist and a very nice man. I will certainly miss his wisdom and humor.

Deep sigh...

I had received the news this morning and very shocked since he is one of my great teacher in chromatography though we have never met before. I hope the best for his family.

this news really makes me feel sad

My deepest sympathy to his family.

I only had some email conversations with him but he was always very friendly and helpful.
Sadly this won't happen anymore... :(

May he find peace

I've just received the email about Dr. Neue's sad news and my heart becomes blue. :(

I only communicated with him some times by email about my projects, and I'm grateful for his help. Dr. Neue is a kindly and serious scientist, but his pass-away made a huge loss in chromatography, I hope this won't exist in the world.

We will miss him forever!

Rest in peace
