i am gonna do some HPLC staff about E coli DNA. I need to extract DNA from the E coli suspension. Does anybody know how to quantitatively determine the concentration of DNA in terms of mg/mL? We can determine the conc in terms of mM/mL, but how to transfer this to mg/mL. It seems we need to know the molecular weight, but I have no idea how to get it.

Another thing is, when I extracted the DNA, will the protein come out with the DNA? I got some white staff, is it DNA or protein?

Thanks a lot!

My first guess would be that CE would be a much better bet for DNA analysis. That said, how are you getting your molar concentrations? what are you using as a reference standard?
