wanted: sri 8610 parts

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

Hello everyone. I recently acquired an old Sri 8610. It originally came with an ecd and tcd, however both were stripped. I would be most interested in refitting with an fid, primarily conducting graduate research concerning volatile organics.
Thanks
Good luck in your search however you may find it cheaper to get an alternative GC that works rather than to try to get parts to fix what might be a broken GC.
The sad part of the story is: You have parts for a used 8610 NOW. Sell them and use the proceeds to get a working GC rather than buying parts that may never get the job done. It can be a money pit to fix old equipment.

Good luck.

Can you connect to the instrument and read channels? You should confirm this before considering to invest any more time or money. If so, you can call SRI and ask them what it would cost. I just added an FID to my old 8610c and I think it cost a little more than $3000. That included the detector, pressure controllers and installation and check out. It was worth it.

Make sure the data aquisition system is functioning as well as the pressure regulators and column oven. If you want to use it for gas sampling make sure you have a multiport valve and that it functions (if it has the actuator), I just had to replace mine.

I just started using my old instrument for simultaneous bulk hydrocarbon analysis (no column) for epa method 25A and I've been pleased.

Two cents of opinion here, and you know what they say about getting what you paid for....

If you are going to spend $3K for FID parts for an 8610, I would rather go out and buy a used, functioning 5890 with an FID already mounted on it. More parts are available for that chassis than just about any other GC out there.

Two cents worth of opinion.....

Best regards,
