Agilent 1100 UV-Vis VS diode array, sensitivity?

I've heard contrasting claims; some say the Uv-vis module is more sensitive, some say the diodearray is, can anyone shine some light at this? If the latter is true, the diode array seems like the way to go, no?

UV/VIS detectors used to be a lot more sensitive than PDAs, now they're just a (very) little bit more sensitive than PDAs. If cost is not a concern (PDAs are also a bit more expensive), and you anticipate no issues with training end users to use them properly, PDA is a more attractive way to go than they used to be.

Thanks, I was just wondering as we want to purify/analyze trace amount of material <0.3ug. So an Agilent 1100 with a DAD (I guess they have two different versions), should be the way to go.

Probably correct, though I think that, by now, you may be limited to the 1200 series.
